Never before has the custom truck scene been as popular in South Africa as it is at the moment. While man is still hunting down and searching for American pony cars and boulevard cruisers, the 50s and 60s era trucks are in high demand. This is by clientele looking for a left-field approach to the scene.

This big block bad boy is a real head-turner thanks to a comprehensive ground-up rebuild by owner @RianBrandt. I know people often frown on stereotypes. But just close your eyes for a second and imagine what kind of man would build and drive a muscle car like this and chances are you will have pictured Riaan perfectly. After meeting the guy Im not sure whos meaner Rian or the Chevelle

Porsche 911 The Weekend Racer

This 1970 Porsche 911 was originally built as a competitive racing car by the late Peter Gough in the 1990s and driven competitively by Clive Wooley on the South African classic racing circuit.

The three numbers 911, are usually associated with an emergency, but in this case, they are referring to one of the best things to ever come out of Germany, the Porsche 911.

1970 W108 Mercedes 280s  Around The Benz

If Count Draculas coffin had an engine then this is what he would be sitting in. The red leather interior is in perfect contrast to the matt black exterior with its chrome trimming. Clint found his 1970 W108 Mercedes 280S on Gumtree from someone who deals in exotic birds and exotic is what he got. The original colour was ivory white and he took it to a garage to be re-sprayed but they botched it up.

A Cool 1936 Plymouth Pickup From Bits And Pieces

Mark Mercury spotted a rusty old truck body and chassis while doing his inspection rounds, lying on vacant land in Grassy Park. The owner of the property had asked him to remove it and dump it in the scrap yard. Virtually all that remained of the wreck was the chassis, cab and half of the bin, with no doors or windows. Mark didnt know what it was until he found the original owner; who wanted to strip and restore the 1936 Plymouth Pickup. But, over time, some parts and bits got stolen and he abandoned the project.

This 1972 Ford Capri Has Legendary Status

I remember seeing this exact same 1972 Ford Capri in those days at Lugz and the fervent ooohs and aaahs that followed from the approving critics.

As I headed home on the M4 beach road along Durbans newly revamped promenade after this shoot, I felt a sudden wave of nostalgia sweep over me and couldnt help but take a small trip down memory lane. So I turned off the M4 and headed pass Blue Lagoon (or Lugz as it is affectionately known as by the regulars) to see what was happening as one would normally do on a Saturday afternoon in Durbs.
