'32 Ford Coupé Deuces over Kings

In the world of the Street Rod, there aren't very many cars as downright legendary as the one we've tracked down this month. Only a Deuce, after all, is a Deuce. And a '32 Ford Coupé is the best of the bunch, really. To many, the quintessential Street Rod.

Keith Potgieter of Western Street Rods in Roodepoort started this build for his friend and customer, Rod Burnett of Benoni, as a '33. There just weren't any '32 bodies in SA at the time. But about six months into the build, Rod decided he just had to have a '32, so they imported a body from the US as well as 10 sets of chassis rails, which promptly went missing! They turned up a tense three weeks later somewhere in Springs, to everyone's great relief.

'It just had to be the '32,' explains Rod. "I'd thought at first that the '33 would be good, but it just wasn't doing what the Deuce did for me. Even when we eventually got to feast our eyes on the chassis rails alone, I knew it was the right direction - even they were beautiful to me!'
